Tri majstora
Three Craftsmen
Sastala se tri majstora, svaki hvali djelo svoje.Među sobom divanilinajvažniji od njih tko je.
Once three craftsmen met together, each one praised the work he'd done, and they chatted and debatedwho's the most important one.
„Na prvome mjestu ja sam!“,šeštrdžija veli glasno.„Ja ljudima kape pravimda ne kisnu – to je jasno.“
"I am first of all!" the hattersays out loud. "It's clear and plain:I make caps for all the peopleso they won't get soaked by rain."
Postolar će na to reći:„Da ne gaze ljudi rosu,ja cipele svima pravimi obuvam nogu bosu.“
Then the cobbler says in answer:"So that folk won't tread the dew,I make shoes for every person, and I shoe the barefoot too."
„Ja sam važan!“ veli krojač,„kod mene se ruho šije.Pravim kaput, prsluk, hlače,da ljudima zima nije.“
"I'm important!" says the tailor,"here is where the clothes are sewn:coats I make, and vests, and trousers,so the cold leaves folk alone."
Ja zaista ne znam rećišto je za nas najvažnije, ali blato, kiša, studen –to je za nas najstrašnije.
Truly, I can't really saywhich one serves us all the best, but the mud, the rain, the cold —these we fear above the rest.
I majstori tad će znati:ne vrijedi se prepirati.Ta vidjet će oni lakoda su vrijedni podjednako.
Then the craftsmen all will knowthere's no use in quarrelling so;for they'll easily now seethey are worth the same, all three.
