Lastino gnijezdo maloveć mnogo ljeta broji,kao ukras kuće starepod strehom ponosno stoji.
Many summers now have passedfor the swallow's little nest;an adornment to the old house,proud beneath the eaves, at rest.
U svako pramaljećenama se laste jave.Gnijezdo kad brižno srede,jaja u njega stave.
Every year, in early spring,swallows come to us again;when with care they've fixed the nest,they lay eggs inside it then.
Kad prođe neko vrijemei stigne ljeto vruće,ptići veselo cvrče,jer žele van iz kuće.
When a little time has passedand hot summer comes about,little chicks chirp merrily,for they're longing to get out!
Maleni brzo rastu,dođe i konac ljeta.U jata se tada skupe –odoše na kraj svijeta!
Quickly grow the little ones,and the summer's end draws nigh;then they gather into flocks,off to the world's end they fly!
