Klokan
The Kangaroo
Klokana nježnog, malog, kad rujna zora zarudi, dok u toploj torbi spava, majčino srce budi.
The tender little kangaroo, when the dawn is blushing red,is woken by his mother's heartsleeping in his warm pouch-bed.
Polako proviri njušku,za rub se torbe hvatai gleda u polje zelenonosi li doručak tata.
Slowly out he pokes his snout, grips the pouch's edge with care, looks across the meadow green:is Daddy bringing breakfast there?
Kad gricne malo hrane,u tobolac on se vrati, znade da će mu majkatoploga mlijeka dati.
When he's nibbled just a little, back into the pouch he goes;Mother has warm milk to give him, that the little fellow knows.
Kad s doručkom gotov bude, tada se igra, skače.To životnu uči školuk'o svako dobro đače.
When he's finished with his breakfast, then he plays and hops with glee:so in life's own school he's learning,as good pupils ought to be.
A kada je igre dostai noć se spusti plava,on majčin tobolac tražida opet u njemu spava.
And when he has played enoughand the blue night settles deep, then he seeks his mother's pouchso that there again he'll sleep.
