There where I was borna certain pond is found;it's a curious pond, known the country round.
You can walk upon itwhen the winter's cold, and in summer it hasresidents, all told.
There are fish galore, dangerous pike and more, there are wild ducks, too,in the reeds, quack-quack!and the water beetlesskipping there and back.
On its trees the birdiestwitter all about;in the pond the childrenbathe and splash and shout.
All the year aroundthere's a proper din:here the village childrenall come crowding in.
In the summertimeit was all their joy:there they picked the šulj*,beach for girl and boy.
Stanovnici selatu pecaju ribu,a po zimi čestouhvate i gripu.
Here the village peoplecatch a fish or two,and in winter, often, catch the flu here too.
