A Pleasant Pensioners' Get-Together
Sedmog srpnja dv'je tisuće sedme,sastali se da turnir održe,u Miholjcu, u predivnom gradui PENZIĆI da se malo druže.
The seventh of July, two thousand seven,they gathered for a tournament to play,in Miholjac, a town so wonderful,so OLDIES could have company that day.
Šest udruga skupilo se tada:iz Belišća, Valpova, Bizovca,Petr'jevaca, Satnice Miholjca,da si srcu pruže sportskog slada.
Six clubs had gathered, from all round they came:from Belišće, Valpovo, Bizovac,from Petrijevci, Satnica, Miholjac,to give their hearts the sweetness of the game.
Bili su to sve vrsni igrači:u kuglanju, belotu, i šahu,a posebno žene u pikadu,rekord ruše svi u jednom dahu.
They all were players of the finest kindat bowling, at belote, and at chess,and most of all the women at the darts,all breaking records, breathless with success.
Ribići su pecali na Dravi,šah se igr'o potiho u sali,na kuglani meč je bio pravi,a kartaši sve su nadvikali.
The anglers fished beside the Drava's shore,the chess was quietly played inside the hall,the bowling match was fought for every score,and the card players out-shouted one and all.
I ženice svoj su obol dale,u veselju pikado igrale.Hotel BORIK domaćin je bio,sve igrače divno pogostio.
The ladies, too, brought all the share they had,and played at darts, so merry and so glad.The Hotel BORIK was the host, and therethe players all were treated to fine fare.
Po zasluzi svi su nagrađeni,pehar daje i čestita Mira,predsjednica Udruge Miholjca,a dvoranom tiho glazba svira.
By merit everyone received a prize;Mira hands out the cups and gives her praise,the president of the Miholjac club,and through the hall the music softly plays.
I na kraju ovoga turnira,igrači su za stolove sjeli.Dvoranom je nastala tišina,dok su u slast svi domjenak jeli.
And then, when this whole tournament was done,the players at the tables took their seat;a silence settled on the hall, while allwith relish ate the buffet, every treat.
Ali ovo nije kraj toj priči,druženje je nastalo tek sada,još ne misle da će kući ići,jer ugodna atmosfera vlada.
But that was not the ending of the tale:the real get-together had just begun;no thought of going home would yet prevail,for such good spirits reigned in everyone.
Veselo je, hvala dragom Bogu,zaigraše kolo, tango, polku,nek se vidi što PENZIĆI mogu,sutra ćemo misliti na boljku.
It's merry, thanks be to the Lord above;they danced the kolo, tango, polka too;let all now see what OLDIES are made of:tomorrow we'll give aches a thought or two.
Glazba svira, u srce me dira.Ej, ne svići skoro zlatna zoro.Bar da mi je svaki dan ovako,makar sutra ja sa kozom or'o.
The band is playing, and my heart is swaying.Hey, golden dawn, keep back, don't break, I pray!If only every day could be like this,though I should plough with a goat the next day!
