Od Krndije do Papuka,Psunja pa do Bilogore,na večernjim posijelima, slavonske se pjesme ore.

From Krndija on to Papuk,Psunj, and Bilogora's height,at the sijela each eveningSlavonian songs ring through the night.

Sa sjevera i zapadaravna polja Slavonije, kukuruzom zasađena,sežu čak do Semberije.

From the north and from the westlie Slavonia's plains spread wide, planted all with maize, and reachingfar as Semberija's side.

Opet tamo na istokusrijemskom se ravnicom vežetalasasto more žita, sve dokle ti oko seže.

There, again, toward the east, joining Srijem's level plain, far as ever eye can reachrolls a billowing sea of grain.

To predivno zelenilo, rijekama je prepleteno, brežuljcima okrunjenoi šumama okićeno.

All this wondrous green expanseis with rivers woven round,by the rolling hills is crowned, and with forest garlands bound.

Kad navečer sunce zađe,bezbroj zvijezda nebom sija.Nigdje nema ljepšeg krajanego što je Slavonija.

When the sun has set at evening, countless stars shine bright and fair;there is not a land more lovelythan Slavonia, anywhere.

U edenu tom zemaljskom, eto, tu sam rođen i ja.Tu življahu moji preci:to je moja Slavonija!

In this earthly Eden, see, here I too was born and grown;here my forefathers once lived:this is my Slavonia, my own!

Translator's note. Krndija, Papuk, Psunj and Bilogora are the hills that ring Slavonia to the west; Semberija lies across the Sava in Bosnia, and Srijem is the plain to the east.
