Nudim kazan što rakiju peče
A Rakija Still for Sale
Prodah salaš i voljenu njivu,sa njom voćnjak i valpovku šljivu.Sad mi kazan u pecari spava, prod'o bih ga, istina je prava.
I sold my farmstead and my much-loved ground, the orchard too, with Valpovka plums around. My still is sleeping in the still-house now;I'd sell it, that's the honest truth, I vow.
The pot is made of hammered copper, anda hundred litres' volume it will hold;the firebox is beautifully made,of fire-blackened sheet iron, finely rolled.
Just like the torso of a lovely woman, its lid is shaped, with curves designed to please;the bent pipe, full three metres long, will leadthe steam into the cooling vat with ease.
The cooling vat's a cubic metre in all;its volume, I should think, is plain and clear;the catching tub holds twenty litres, madeof first-class oak: you'll find no better here.
The spiral coil is twenty metres long,as fine as any ring, and neatly tooled;it winds around the vat full seven times, and then the rakija trickles out, well cooled.
On tisuću eura sad košta.
A thousand euros is its price today. It's all brand new — no tricks, I tell you flat.I give my guarantee for all of it:the catching tub, the pot, the cooling vat.
If someone pays in cash for the whole lot,I'll sell it cheaper to him on the spot. The bargain's as the two of us agree, and kuna's fine — it's all the same to me.
Just call me on this telephone of mine:652 eight hundred twenty-one,and let this worthy bit of trade be done.So let the plums be distilled in the still —from Valpovo, Iva greets you, with good will.
