On the plain of eastern Croatia,so the records of our history tell,in Slavonia's Podravina part,lies the village of Marijanci.
Na njedrima Panonije ravne,agrarom se ovdje ljudi bave.Povezani sa tri divne rijeke:Karašice, Vučice i Drave.
On the breast of level Pannoniafarming is the work the people do,and they're joined by three delightful rivers:Karašica, Vučica, Drava too.
Bila crkva u trinaestom vijeku,od Marije Djeve zaštićena,osamnaestog vijeka obnovljena,svetom Petru i Pavlu posvećena.
In the thirteenth century a church stood,sheltered by the Virgin Mary's grace;the eighteenth century renewed its face,to Saints Peter and Paul a hallowed place.
Marijanci školu izgradili.Obitelj je nekad bila jaka.Sto trideset, a nekad i više,u školi je znalo biti đaka.
Marijanci's people built a school;families were strong in days of yore;in the school, at times, a hundred thirtypupils there would be, and sometimes more.
Od devetsto devedeset treće,Marijanačka Općina postoji.Dvije tisuće sedamsto dvadeset,ona svojih stanovnika broji.
Since the year of nineteen ninety-threeMarijanci's township's come to stay;two thousand seven hundred twentyresidents it counts as its own today.
Općina je tu i prije bila,već odavno, dosta ljeta ima.Šest je sela k sebi prigrlila,a na ponos svojim seljanima.
There was a township once in the same place,long ago, it's many summers old;six villages it took in its embrace,to the pride of all within its fold.
A devetsto dvadeset i sedme,knjižnicu su ljudi osnovali.Za kulturu svoj obol su dali,„SLAVONIJA VILA“ je nazvali.
And in nineteen hundred twenty-sevenpeople set a library under way,their tribute paid to culture in this way,named it "Slavonija Vila" straightaway.
Dvije tisuće i četvrtog ljeta,dični ljudi KUD su osnovali,„SLAVONIJA VILA“ ga nazvali,na Ćimenu kolo odigrali.
In the summer of two thousand four,worthy folk set up a KUD, brand new,and named it "Slavonija Vila" too,and on the Ćimen danced the kolo through.
Na Ćimenu kad zaigra kolo,tankovito kad vrisne šokica,i kad cikne na tamburi žica,tada ječi slavonska ravnica.
When the kolo on the Ćimen starts,and a Šokica gives a thin, shrill cry,and the tambura string rings sharp and high,then Slavonia's plain rings to the sky.
Tisuću devetsto dvadeset osme,ravnatelj iz škole Marijanci,osnovo' je vatrogasno društvo,u svom radu to su pravi znalci.
In the year nineteen hundred twenty-eight,Marijanci school's headmaster thenfounded a volunteer fire brigade:in their work they're truly skilful men.
Sa ponosom u svom postojanju,osamdeset ljeta proslavili.Koliko su požara gasili?To bi samo oni reći znali.
Proud of all the years of their existence,eighty summers they have marked in style.How many fires were quenched in all that while?That is something only they could tell.
Marijanci ambulantu imai doktora da pomogne svima.Dječji vrtić „PINOKIO“ zvani,u tom kraju svima dobro znani.
Marijanci has a clinic of its ownand a doctor, so that no one's left alone;the "Pinokio" kindergarten, too, is found,well known to everyone for miles around.
Marijanačka pošta gordo stoji,već godina ona puno ima,ponosna je u svojemu radu,jer usluge pruža seljanima.
Marijanci's post office proudly stands,many years already it has known;it is proud of all the work it does,for it serves the village as its own.
Trgovina ovdje ima dostai robe je od njih svaka puna.Kupili bi ljudi sve i svašta,ali narod nema dosta kuna.
Of shops, there are quite a few round here,and each one's full of goods of every sort;people would buy anything at all,but their kunas always come up short.
Nogometno društvo selo ima,to je „HAJDUK“, na diku je svima,najbolji je u ovome kraju,pa za njega mnoga sela znaju.
The village has a football club, as well,"Hajduk", the pride of all, as you can tell;it is the best in all this countryside,and many villages know it, far and wide.
„MATAKOVO“ čuvena je farma,obrađuje njive, oranice:Bobanjica, Grilje i Sovica,radi mlijeka koje vole djeca.
"Matakovo" is a famous farm, and hereit works the fields and ploughlands, tilled each year:Bobanjica, Grilje and Sovica,for the milk that children hold so dear.
„MARJANČANKA“ ima peradarstvo,hrani koke koje nesu jaja.Pa uz mlijeko i kokino jaje,taj nam život puno duže traje.
"Marjančanka" has a poultry farm,feeding hens that lay the eggs we eat;so with milk, and eggs the hens will lay,our lives last longer by a good long way.
Za sad tol'ko, već bi bilo dosta,nekoliko još birtija osta'.U Marijance na kirvaj otiđi,gostione sve redom obiđi.
