Ljubavne pjesme pisao Luka,tu vrlinu, Muze su mu dale.Od djetinjstva bila vrijedna ruka,izdat će knjigu, one su znale.
Our Luka wrote love poems from the heart;the Muses gave that virtue to his pen;his hand from childhood worked and did its part:they knew he'd bring a book out, even then.
Ljubav mu je okitila snove,pero vješto držala mu ruka."SVE JE TO ŽIVOT", knjiga se zove.Prvu knjigu iznjedrio Luka.
Love decked his dreams and held his heart enthralled;his skilful hand held firm the pen to write;“It's All Life” — that is what the book is called,the first book Luka brought into the light.
Prva mu je knjiga snage dala,probudila Luki divne snove,obitelj se isto radovala."SUNČANI OSMJEH", druga se zove.
His first book gave him strength, and it awokein Luka dreams most wonderful to see;his family was glad, and all his folk:“A Sunny Smile” the second came to be.
Skupili se ljudi, čestitali,promocija bila, radost cijela.Prođu dva ljeta, nismo ni znali,procvale "RUŽE TREĆEG ANĐELA".
The people gathered, wished him joy, and thena launch was held, and joy filled all the room;two summers passed before we knew it, when“Roses of the Third Angel” came to bloom.
Neumorno Luka dalje piše.Život prođe k'o da je na slici.Iz Đurdana veseli glas stiže,nastali su „SREBRNI VIDICI“.
Luka writes on, unwearied, day by day;life passes by, as in a picture framed.From Đurdan comes a joyful voice to say:“Silver Horizons” — so the new one's named.
Piši, Luka, dok si dobre voljei razigraj te pjesničke snove.Pa zar može nešto biti bolje?"PROPLAMSAJ SRCA", peta se zove.
Write, Luka, while your heart is full of cheer,and set your poet's dreams to dance and play!Could there be something better? None, that's clear!“A Glimmer of the Heart”, the fifth, I say.
Nakon snova, kad zora zarudi,kada prođu ove divne noći.Uspomena kad razigra grudi:"STOPAMA VJETRA", knjiga će doći.
When dreams are done, and dawn is turning bright,when these most wondrous nights have passed away,when memory sets hearts dancing in delight,“In the Wind's Footsteps” then will come our way.
"SOFIJA OZLOJAĐENA ŽENA".Preporuku za nju dajem svima,sudbina je opisana njena,u toj knjizi divnih stvari ima.
“Sofija, an Embittered Woman”: hereI recommend it warmly to you all;in it her fate is told us, plain and clear,and lovely things are in it, great and small.
Osma knjiga, to su: "KRATKE PRIČE",sami naslov svoj sadržaj kaže.Kad ju čitaš, divno radost klice,sve se divno u toj knjizi slaže.
The eighth book is the one called “Short Tales”;the title by itself tells what's inside;as you read on, joy sprouts and never fails,and all that's in the book fits side by side.
I dođosmo opet do romana:„U POTRAZI“, to je knjiga znana.Deveta je, od Luke izdana,sa ljepotom divno ispričana.
And now a novel once again is shown:“In Search”, a book that's widely read and known,the ninth that Luka's published as his own,and told with beauty, lovely in its tone.
Obišli smo, Lukin knjižni svijet,deseta je knjiga napisana,to je „PRAŠINA I PONEKI CVIJET“.Ta ljepota od Boga mu dana.
We've toured through Luka's world of books; this hourthe tenth one has been written, it is here:it's “Dust and the Occasional Flower”.That beauty was God's gift to him, that's clear.
Ja se nadam, prijatelju mili,da desetom knjigom nema kraja.Oduvijek smo o ljepoti snili,jedanaesta donijet će ti Raja.
I hope, my dear and cherished friend, for youthe tenth book's not the end: take my advice!for beauty's what we've always dreamed, we two:the eleventh book will bring you Paradise.
