Kad Ivanje u Sopju osvane
When St John's Day Dawns in Sopje
Svakog ljeta dvajs'trećega lipnja, svi Sopjani tad Ivanje slave, sve udruge i mještani Sopja,to veselje sa užitkom prave.
Every summer, twenty-third of June, all the folk of Sopje keep Ivanje Day;all its clubs, and everyone in Sopje, join with pleasure in the feast and play.
Joyfully they welcome all their guests, all the grace of friendship they bestow;these are Sopje's customs, old and true, virtue that they've known since long ago.
For the beauty of Ivanje's daymany clubs have come and lent their aid;tambura players, through the streets of Sopje, made Ivanje lovelier as they played.
I zaprega konja i kočija, sokacima Sopja projezdilo.
Teams of horses drawing carriagesthrough the lanes of Sopje went their way;all that beauty from the distant pastcalls to mind what once was yesterday.
Takmičenja djece i mladeži,sada su nam to veselje dali.Sjećamo se našega djetinjstva, kada smo se često PINCEKALI.
Contests for the children and the youngnow have brought us joy this festive day;we remember our own childhood years, when at pincekanje we'd often play.
Now the sun has set, the evening falls, stars and Moon have joined the kolo's ring, games go on, and softly time flows by,and the stars have decked the evening sky.
Lilaljke were deftly made and wound, stuffed with straw, packed full and tightly bound;as they whirled, they quickly burned from sight, leaving traces of their blazing might.
Other lilaljke were also there, and with sparks they decked the evening air;whirling round, they flung sparks everywhereand adorned with splendour Sopje's square.
Ta ljepota primiče se kraju,žica cikne novom ugođaju.Tamburaši žice naštimalii Šokačko kolo zasvirali.
Now the beauty draws toward its close;a string rings out, and a new mood grows. The tambura men had tuned their strings with skilland struck up the Šokac kolo with a will.
Bruji žica i vrisne Šokica, preko Luke odjekne ravnica.Ej, Sopjani, cvjetalo vam cvijećečekat ćemo Dravsko pramaljeće.
Strings are humming, and a Šokica cries, over the Luka the whole plain replies.Hey, Sopje folk, may flowers bloom each year! We'll wait until the Drava Spring is here.
