Kao momak u Sopju sam bio,ljepših cura, ja nisam vidio.Preko dana žito sam vršio,a navečer curice ljubio.
In Sopje, as a lad, I'll say outright:no prettier girls had ever met my sight.By day I threshed the wheat with all my might,and kissed the little girlies every night.
Jednog dana, majka veli meni:„Dragi, sine, hajde se oženi!Stigla jesen, uskoro će zima,a u Sopju lijepih cura ima.“
One day my mother said to me: "Dear son,it's time you took a wife, so get it done!The autumn's here, and winter's drawing near,and Sopje has its pretty girls, my dear."

Braziliju ja sam posjetio,sve do zore kod Klare sam bio.Nježno smo se noćas ljubovali,al' o braku nismo šaputali!

Iz Ritske je komšinica Jana,dolazila meni svakog dana;ni noću mi nije dala mira.Bježao bih glavom bez obzira!

Cure, snaše, mnoge sam ljubio,al' se nisam mlađan oženio.Otišo' sam iz svojega sela,valjda tako sudbina je htjela.
Of girls and young wives, many I have kissed,but marriage, in my youth, I somehow missed.I left my village, went and moved away;I guess that fate would have it just that way.
Prošao sam Gračanski i Patoš,Braziliju, Vlaški i Crkveni,Ritsku Adu i Sopjansku Gredu.Išao bih opet sve po redu.
I made my rounds: Gračanski and Patoš,Brazilija, and Vlaški, and Crkveni,Ritska Ada and Sopjanska Greda, too;in order, I'd go round them all anew!
